Angela J. Choi

Angela joined ISC in 2006. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology at Emory University and has had 5 years of teaching experience and student group administrative leadership experience. Her research interests include experimental design, data analysis, and cultural diversity in educational settings.

At ISC, Angela primarily focuses on conducting market studies, school assessment and evaluation via surveys and other measurement tools, and student test score analysis. She also handles ISC's data management and Links2Schools projects.

Edward C. Lingenheld

Ted joined the ISC team in 1997 following sixteen years in independent school leadership positions.  In his work with clients he has been primarily involved with strategic and financial planning, management analysis, board development, leadership search and fund-raising. He manages ISC’s North Carolina office and lives in Raleigh.

Ted has served as the head of three schools - Cary Academy (NC), Tatnall School (DE), and Rutgers Preparatory School (NJ). His administrative experience also includes nine years of admissions work at Penn and at Duke where he was director of undergraduate admissions.

He is a graduate of the Pomfret School, and received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Rutgers University, respectively.

Julie C. Robinson

Julie focuses her consulting work with ISC in the areas of fundraising, planning, and governance, and brings to ISC university classroom teaching experience, as well as experience in marketing and communications.

As a graduate student at Georgia State University, Julie specialized in education leadership, education reform, and student achievement.

A member of Phi Beta Kappa, and a South Carolina Honors College graduate, Julie earned her B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina, and she has completed all required coursework toward earning her M.S. from the Department of Educational Policy Studies at Georgia State University.

David R. Skillen

ISC has its origins in the early work of Dave among independent schools in the Southeast, beginning in the mid-1980s. As ISC’s Senior Consultant, Dave’s work has focused on planning, fundraising management and school governance.

He has served as a director of development at both the secondary and collegiate levels and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Wheaton College (IL) and is a graduate of The Stony Brook School (NY).

Dave serves as ISC's lead counsel to the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) and has worked directly with over seventy independent schools.

W. Scott Collins

Scott was a senior consultant with ISC from 1997-2007, serving as lead consultant on campus master planning and graphic design. He is currently the Associate Director of Capital and Special Projects at University of Rochester and holds an advisory role on ISC projects related to marketing and communication, design, facilities and campus planning, and funding programs.

A member of The Council of Educational Facility Planners, International (CEFPI), Scott has a B.A. degree from Wittenberg University (OH) and a Certification in Strategic Marketing from Emory University. Scott will continue to support ISC on a project by project basis.

Tom Ezell

Tom has worked directly with more than 45 independent schools, and has held senior level development posts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Skidmore College, and the State University of New York. In addition, he has provided consulting services to the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS), the Southern Association of Boarding Schools (SABS), and the Florida Association of Nonprofit Organizations (FANO).

He has taught at the post secondary level at Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, Skidmore College, and the State University of New York. He has also worked with several Wall Street firms and is the author of a number of articles as well as a chapter in the book An Introduction to Fundraising (CASE, Washington, D.C., 1983).

He has also served as a review panelist for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), as a member of the Gannett Foundation's Community Priorities Committee, and on a number of accreditation teams for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

He is a graduate of the Albany Academy, Lafayette College, and the University of Michigan from which he earned his Ph.D.

Mackarness M. (Mack) Goode

Mack joined ISC's team in early 2007 to add a broad new dimension to our fund-raising consulting presence in Florida's growing independent school community, He now lives near Bradenton/Sarasota following his distinctive thirty-year professional institutional fund-raising career in the Northeast. Mack has been a senior level capital fund-raising officer at New York University, Pratt Institute, Brooklyn College, The Brooklyn Museum and the International Center for Photography in New York, as well as for the University of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia College of Art.

Since moving to Florida, in a consulting capacity he has advised New College in Sarasota, Manatee County School District, Manatee Players and the Lemur Conservation Foundation on major gift campaigns.

ISC is honored to be able to offer his successful experience in generating capital funding support as a resource to Central and South Florida FCIS schools.

Mack is a graduate of Deerfield Academy, and holds both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.

Jay W. Howard, Jr., CFRE

Jay brings nineteen years of diverse experience in advancement to the ISC team. He has particular expertise in designing and implementing comprehensive programs with special emphasis on strategic planning, capital campaigns, major gifts, and annual giving.

He has served as the Director of Development at Flint Hill School, The Meadows School, and Battle Ground Academy. He has also played lead roles in the development offices of the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Currently, Jay is serving as Director of Development at the Webb School of Knoxville, TN.

Jay is a graduate of Sidwell Friends School and The University of Richmond. He is an active member of CASE and has served on the Commission on Philanthropy. He is a former member of the Board of the Nashville Chapter of AFP and the Development and Marketing Committee of the American Association of Museums. Jay is accredited by AFP as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).
